Overview
We are looking for a hands-on and execution-driven Deputy MLRO / Deputy CCO to support the compliance function of Gate Dubai.
This role is ideal for candidates who may not currently hold a formal MLRO/CCO title but have solid, practical experience in AML/CTF operations, compliance framework implementation, and regulatory engagement within financial institutions or the digital asset industry.
Given the evolving regulatory landscape in the UAE, particularly under VARA, we value real operational experience over title, and are open to candidates from Manager / Senior Associate levels who have been deeply involved in building and executing compliance programs.
What You’ll Do
- Support the MLRO in overseeing AML/CTF matters to ensure full compliance with applicable laws and regulations in Dubai；
- Act as a key point of contact with regulators and relevant government bodies, as delegated by the MLRO/CCO； Provide practical and business-oriented compliance advice to business units and product teams；
- Assist in drafting, implementing, and continuously updating AML/CTF policies and procedures；
- Design and implement AML/CTF controls, including: Client onboarding (KYC/KYB) ，transaction monitoring，Trade & market surveillance，Travel Rule compliance；
- Lead or support compliance monitoring programs and account opening controls；
- Participate in preparing regular MLRO reports and updates to senior management；
- Collaborate closely with global Legal & Compliance teams on cross-border and ad-hoc projects。
What We’re Looking For
Experience
- 7+ years of experience in compliance, legal, or risk management in financial institutions with at least 2 years of experience taking up positions as MLRO or Chief Compliance Officer；
- At least 1.5+ years of experience in the digital asset / crypto industry；
Core Competencies
- Solid understanding of: AML / KYC / CTF frameworks，Compliance operations and risk control mechanisms；
- Proven hands-on experience in: Compliance framework implementation and optimization ，Policy drafting and internal control design
- Familiarity with UAE regulatory landscape (VARA experience is a strong plus)
- Good understanding of crypto products, trading flows, and related risks
Technical & Functional Skills
- Experience with transaction monitoring and/or market surveillance is preferred
- Familiarity with compliance tools such as: Chainalysis / Elliptic / SumSub
Nice to Have
- Experience working in a VARA-regulated entity or involvement in license application / regulatory approval processes in the UAE
- Exposure to product compliance or working closely with product/tech teams, with the ability to translate regulatory requirements into product or system controls
