Job Summary:
The Junior Compliance Officer is responsible for providing guidance to the business on key legislation, regulations, standards, best practices, and core compliance areas. This role involves advising on regulatory and reporting frameworks to ensure adherence to legal and internal requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
- Take ownership of the ongoing due diligence process by handling periodic KYC/KYB refreshers
- Analyse transactions for suspicious activity, using transaction monitoring systems
- Review internal escalations and conduct risk-based investigations
- Take part in the preparation of procedures and guidelines in line with regulatory requirements
- Drafting and preparing Suspicious Activity Reports (SARs)
- Manage escalations and queries from all departments
- Examine regulatory areas and compile assessment and proposal documents.
- Work with the Compliance team, including MLRO, to ensure a coordinated approach to financial crime prevention and detection
- Ensure all escalated cases are properly documented and evidenced
- Identify opportunities to improve existing processes, escalation framework to enhance effectiveness
- Contribute to the review and updating of financial crime procedures to ensure they remain effective and up to date.
- Participate in training and development initiatives related to financial crime prevention
- Collaborate with management in projects
Nice to have:
- Experience with blockchain analytics.
- Knowledge and understanding of emerging criminal patterns and industry trends.
Skills:
- Understanding of global and local regulatory requirements, including AML, KYC, and industry-specific compliance regulations.
- Ability to evaluate risk and assess business activities based on regulatory requirements and internal risk appetite.
- Knowledge of financial crime typologies, patterns and trends.
- Familiarity with monitoring tools, systems, and technologies used for compliance and transaction monitoring.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to identify patterns and trends from large sets of data.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to communicate complex compliance matters clearly and effectively.
